What thoughts come to your mind when you see these incredible murals?
You may call them graffiti murals, but actually graffiti has a negative connotation and they should be called Street Art or just murals. Below are some of the many murals found in the Crossroads Art District, some of which we pass on our urban hike. Many were painted during the yearly SpraySeeMo Festival.
These first two murals by @SabertoothThomas: title of first mural Lady Jay; By the way, Sabertooth Thomas is an incredible local tattoo artist. You can also get prints of the original inspiration for his mural Lady Jay.
James Oleson’s vibrant 3-D mural , who is also an amazing character designer, masks and body paint artist. Definitely worth checking out his IG page @olesonart.
This amazing mural near @mannyskc is by the famous and local Scribe @scribewalk Cool fact is that it was created using up his scrap cans at the beginning of 2017. 
The most recently painted mural is by Rif Raf Giraffe @rifrafgiraffe (this one was painted last month!) It’s funny how due to COVID-19, this character looks like it has a mask on, but I wouldn’t have thought that before the pandemic. It’s so interesting how what we are going through shapes our world view. 
Tttle: BabaMa, by artist Aaron Sutton of @visualgoodies. This is my favorite in the Crossroads Art District. I found out as I was exploring the area and now it’s a key part of my urban hike. This beautiful piece is influenced by Egyptian art. It depicts a mother. All that is inside her head is the load that mothers arry. The masks are representattive of her ancestors. If you go to Mr. Sutton’s IG @visualgoodies, you’ll see the original full painting which is identical, but the body is a bird’s body! Strikingly beautiful!
